The Lottery CFO · free tool
Where does each £1 of your draw go?
Put in your entry price, sales, prize and costs. You get your own split of every pound, your break-even number of entries and your margin, straight away. No sign-up.
This tool does maths only. It doesn't tell you whether your draw is legal or how it's taxed, and it isn't legal or tax advice. It runs in your browser: nothing you type is stored or sent.
Your draw
Example figures are filled in. Replace them with yours.
Your £1, split
Before VAT. Tick "Count VAT on paid entries" to include it. Other taxes aren't included.
Your costs are more than your sales, so the ring shows how your costs split, not your £1.
Want your real numbers checked?
For 18 years I ran the finances of a European national lottery operator. I do a fixed-fee, written commercial review of your draw model: prize fund, costs, margin, VAT and the risks in the numbers. No calls needed. It's a commercial review, not legal or tax advice. Prices and details.

About VAT: HMRC's current view is that paid entries to prize draws with a free entry route are standard-rated at 20%. That view is being challenged at the First-tier Tribunal (heard October 2026; a decision is expected in spring 2027). Ask your accountant how it applies to you.
